Located in the lush suburbs of Nashville, this residence was a personal commission from a long-term client. Though initiated on short notice, the project became a unique opportunity to design a home that blends Southern charm with timeless elegance. The house reflects a clean, understated material palette crisp white brick, black-framed windows, and a soft, monochrome landscape setting a refined tone for both the architecture and the outdoor environment.
The house opens up dramatically at the rear, where the architectural language becomes more expressive. A sunken outdoor lounge with integrated seating and a central fire feature anchors the garden. This space creates a cozy, intimate escape nestled into the landscape the perfect transition between indoor living and outdoor entertainment. At night, soft lighting highlights the geometry and texture of the architecture, elevating the atmosphere.
From the street, the home is intentionally subtle. A gated entrance encloses the circular driveway, which leads to two enclosed garages and three open-air parking spaces for guests. A low-profile fountain marks the center of the approach, while manicured hedges and minimalist lighting reinforce the serene atmosphere. The overall façade is symmetrical and elegant, framed by clean gables and tall, arched windows that reference classic Southern homes but with a pared-back, contemporary attitude.
The rear terrace features a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. A covered outdoor dining and lounge area on the ground level is shaded and protected, while the upper roof terrace accessed via the main bedroom offers an elevated retreat with its own outdoor furniture setup. Overlooking the pool and sunken lounge below, this rooftop deck enhances the home's sense of vertical layering and spatial drama.
The landscape design balances softness with order. Evergreen hedges, structured lawn edges, and low rock gardens create texture and depth while maintaining a restrained feel. The outdoor pool framed by stone pavers and lounge seating adds a resort-like quality, making this home equally suitable for relaxation and entertaining. The result is a residence that reveals more the further you move into it, creating a subtle narrative from calm arrival to vibrant retreat.
